So you have a group of friends, co-workers or family members that you need to buy for this Holiday season. But man does it add it up! Even a decent Walmart gift basket that is really ho hum at best is $19.99.
The trick to getting the cost down while blowing their minds is to get something for everyone that is experiential. People love experiences and sharing those experiences. Why do you think Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat are billion dollar companies?
So gift an experience.
The most cost effective way to do this is to buy a discount certificate – like a Groupon or Living Social to a local venue. One of my all-time favorite is escape rooms . Depending on your location you can often find a discount at an escape room for 10 people for under $150 or $6 people under $100. You can also call these places directly are get them to cut you a deal. They do this all the time.
Last year for Christmas we bought a Groupon for a local escape room for 8 people for $99.00. Then we bought a puzzle box with a hidden compartment and placed an invite to the escape room inside. At Christmas dinner we just placed the box in an obvious place in the living room and waited for someone to find it. They not only had a blast trying to open it and but we had an amazing time at the Escape Room. It was an amazing gift for 8 people for $110.
The great thing about getting a discount certificate is the time you have to plan it. With most of these discount certificates you have 4+ months to use it. You do not have to set the date before you give the gift. Afterwards you can settle on a date that works for everyone and then go have a great time. Total stress free gifting!
I have also done this for a company holiday party and part of a team building day for my church group. Many venues have 3-5 rooms so you can book them all if you plan in advance for larger groups. Everyone always loves the escape room experience! 🙂
